I used this coat designed by @the_visionary_lab made out of denim developed out of plastic bottles collected out of the ocean, as my canvas. This year in worldwide pandemic created a multitude of positive change. One of these changes is nature restoring it’s plethora of bio culture and equilibrium in the sea. The sea are the lungs of the earth as are the rainforests.
I call my art : ‘CRESCERE ( TO GROW), a spiritual ode to the majestic sea’.
Studio Irma x MOCO Museum added an extra dimension to all pieces exhibited with a unique Augmented Reality experience, bringing the exhibition to life.
Creative agency the Visionary Lab and G-STAR RAW, champions of sustainability in the denim industry, present DENIM FOR EARTH; a platform which demonstrates creatively and innovatively that art, fashion, denim and sustainability go hand in hand.
The Visionary Lab invited fashion designers and artists: Karim Adduchi, Charlotte Bakkenes , Yuki Isshiki, Yulia Ivanova, Bagua Jody, Majid Karrouch, Ferry Schiffelers and Tess van Zalinge - to create denim couture, inspired by G-Star RAW circular denim innovations.

Bagua Jody was part of RED LIGHT AIR - artist in residency - old Amsterdam brothels were used as art ateliers at the intersection of new city planning. The artist were the vehicles for change, like always. I created ‘SONGS OF ME’ there and presented the collection, in house and at ‘The Affordable Art Fair’ in Amsterdam, whilst being represented by ICONS ART GALLERY. These vivid lyrical paintings are the template of rock and roll anthems I wrote and used for multiple installations and collaborations. Raw and Iconic this time in the brothel was. A time of life performance and making monumental inner and outer landmarks. During this period the collaborations with photographer and artist BON JANE - Rachel Brennecke further developed. Since 2003 - I’ve been diligently narrating the strength of vulnerability, beauty of nakeness and poetry, through line drawing. This is an everlasting chapter in my art Identity. A core piece of ‘THE KERATON AND I’ - the journey of mapping out my way back to my Javanese Cirebon royal heritage through the arts. This sacred journey wants to explore, create and exhibit itself through me, in order to honour Indonesian heritage in a contemporary and dignified way.
Here you see GWEN THE, the muse and art partner, I am walking this magical journey with and I, BAGUA JODY.
The first art collaboration I did with prestigious international fashion and lifestyle magazine L’OFFICIEL NL of Les editions Jalou, was called ‘THE WIND OF CHANGE’.
The second cover, art collaboration, was a big painting on paper 2,5 x 3 meter - fiery pinkish red energetic movement that represented ‘FREEDOM’.
Established on the 1st of March 2020, during the first Covid Lockdown. An ode to the power of art and imagination, ‘How free are we?’. Due to these circumstances, Artists Bagua Jody & Denise Rosenboom couldn’t go on an art residency in France, but destiny led them to their own France.

A love affair with my twin artist and photographer - BON JANE. We met and felt instant synergy and collaborated on numerous projects. All investigating perception, image and truth. Both graduating from the conceptual Rietveld Academy meant delving in to the deep waters of insecurity and truth of what you want to convey as independent makers.
In the months March , April and May 2017 an epic and beautiful collaboration came to light with LUMINIZE, a four women Croatian pop-rock band signed to Universal Music. He performed and created the concept, art, fashion and co directed their music video TWILIGHT. In this Art- Fashion- Music collaboration Jody performed as the samurai that guides the way through unknown worlds in the depths of finding strength in co-creating. The eery feeling of uncertainty morphing turmoil into art. Elegant fencing warriors navigating their way towards the light. Ivan Barbosa directed my vision in studio Westerpark.

SURREAL SEANCE - a fashion collection presentation and live art painting installation, presented during the opening of Amsterdam International Fashion Week - at legendary concept store SPRMRKT in Amsterdam. A TABLEAU VIVANT. The surrealist era, fin de siecle and roaring twenties became a big source of inspiration after living in Paris for a year. The salons, where a cocktail of aristocracy, artists and politicians came to indulge in conversation and creation in a decadent manner are a way of elevating life that BAGUA JODY embodies and redefines in his manner of living and bringing people together through his art and soul. Of course with a rock and roll, unique sensibility and taste.

BAGUA JODY
BAGUA means compass of life and harmony of the elements. He created his artist name, when he read a book about Feng Shui in his early teens. It made a synthesis of his inner longing to know the essence of life and spiritual longing to connect and the irreverent world of fashion and art. He is a firm and open minded believer that art is the way to co-create and communicate from soul to soul, surpassing background, politics and social status.
BAGUA JODY, Jody Martino Brinkman is a multifaceted artist, with a solid base in drawing and painting. In his art, Jody zealously explores the human body and the many layers and dimensions of identity. Trained as a conceptual fashion designer, he applies his perceptive and intuitive talents to both fashion and fine arts. His creative undertakings are broad, ranging from art direction, fashion magazine projects and brand and store concepts to life-size murals, paintings and drawings for commercial as well as private clients, including L’OFFICIEL Magazine The Netherlands. He fuses his zest for life and art with an undeniable love for modern classic decadence with a rock and roll underlining.
Since his graduation from the Dutch Gerrit Rietveld Academy of visual arts in 2006, Jody has participated in numerous exhibitions and has created several ART X FASHION installations, LIVE ART and performance work, including presentations at the Mercedes-Benz International Fashion Week Amsterdam, Jakarta Fashion Week and multiple Art Fairs. Recently he has been working on a number of paintings, mostly for private collectors.
Currently he is navigating his way back to Indonesia, where his royal roots are embedded. He translates his heritage in a contemporary way, narrating tales of the soul and dreams whilst incorporating every person in this journey. He honours the essence of his bloodline and hopes he does it justice. Stories of beauty and finding a way of giving back.
Jody, of mixed Indonesian-Dutch-Chinese-Italian-Portuguese and Arab heritage, is always up for the new and pristine. Striving for synergy through collaboration, he manages to lift artistic ventures and spirits to higher grounds, creating soulful and lyrical yet cutting-edge pieces of art with a very distinct aesthetic signature. Multilingual and able to adapt seamlessly with people from the heart, he creates dialogue and is able to perform bespoke and tailor made and give birth to monumental autonomous visions.
